For many the hype of Melbourne cup isn't just about the race, it's about the glamour and fashion. Fashion is a big part of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. For the ladies it's crucial to be seen with a killer frock teamed up with a fancy hat or fascinator, but for guys it's simply a reason to SUIT UP! (Barney Stinson style)
This year bright colors and patterns seems to be what everyone is opting for. Color blocking, lace and 40's vintage style is popular among the ladies. For the gents most are seen wearing the grey rather than the traditional black suits.
A friend from work asked me to help him out to choose his outfit for the cup. I've never gone suit shopping before and I know nothing about sizes and all... but thanks to Ryan Gosling in CrazyStupidLove, I picked up some tips ;)
So after hours of tossing different suits, shirts and ties in Myers tiny change room's cubicle we both decided to go with the looks below (well I called the shots, he doesn't have any say in it) I'm not sure what's with guys and checkers but they look amazingly hot in it. So when I picked up that red checkered shirt, I fell in love. Hence why both shirts are checkered, but the two looks are different enough for him to rock the suit in 2 separate occasions.
Ahh I'm getting there... can't wait to go suit hunting next with M for my brother's wedding. Wooo!
